Another California Trip

I've been really busy getting ready to go visit Lisa in Orange County again. I leave Saturday, and next Friday, KathiR from PR, whom I met out there in September, is going to guide us around the Fashion District. I can't wait, and I'm hoping there might be a few others who can get together with us then or another time while I'm there. I'll be there until the 1st, so just over a week.

We plan to go to the Westside to visit Mood, etc., on a different day, so let me know if you have ideas.

Have a wonderful time. And of course, you must get to Britex. Not in garment district but it's too fabulous to miss. Ask Mardel the name of the LYS she likes out there too.

There is a fabric flea market in Torrance where vendors offer fabric for very low prices. I found out about it by emailing the ASG president and when I was in LA, that kind lady actually took me there and to the garment district. We also went to the FDIC museum in the district area, and saw wonderful costumes from recent movies. A sewist's dream day ! Have fun, and am looking forward to hearing about Mood !

You might like to see the exhibit at LACMA: Fashioning Fashion; European Dress in Detail 1700-1915. I'm hoping to see it before it closes. I'm so sorry I can't join you next Friday. Have fun!

If you are anywhere near Britex, and you are the least bit interested in needlework at all, you have to go to the place down the street. I don't recall the name. It is on a corner facing the square (I think) and you have to go up an elevator. Yes, convoluted, but the ladies at Britex will know if you ask about the needlepoint place. You must go! Trust me. K

Darn, I just re-read and realized you are going to LA, not SF. Forget what I said. But go to the needlework place in SF next time. It is fab. Have fun in LA, I know nothing about it. Post any hints, just in case, I might hit it big in the movies and move west. Odd things happen. :) K

What a fun trip! Buy lots of wonderful fabrics and make beautiful things, and then of course, post them for us to see!
