Well, I'm looking for new glasses. I've been going through various kinds of things ever since the need for bifocals arrived, and I'm pretty much settled on wearing one contact lens most of the time. I've always been extremely nearsighted, and I can wear a multi-focal lens in one eye, and nothing in the other so that I can see close work, like sewing or knitting where I have to really be able to focus on on stitch or thread. But, I have never had bifocal glasses and have just been using my last pair of glasses for emergency purposes. I decided the time had come, and so of course I'm looking at frames. We've narrowed it down to two frames. I got to bring them home and see which one is more comfortable, etc. They both seem equally comfortable, so naturally it's down to looks.
Sorry for the somewhat blurry photos. They looked pretty good until I cropped them. Anyway, there are front and side views of both frames. The more rounded frame is first, and the more squared frame is second, so let's call them 1 and 2. One is a little more rounded and has frame all around the lens while 2 is a little more squared, and is rimless on the bottom. Please ignore the writing on the lenses.
Leave a comment to let me know what you think. I am going back and forth, so I'm really interested in what the consensus is.
I also got the new Vogue Knitting today, and the KnitNStyle came last week.
I've been doing some knitting, but more sewing lately. A muslin of a sleeveless, princess-seamed top that I made using a well-fitting Marfy jacket pattern. I'm pretty pleased so far, but haven't finished the test garment from the muslin pattern. It's been interesting, though, and I may take a photo of my pattern pieces. They certainly are not standard looking in several ways.

Liana, I vote for #2. They look stylish and to me, they will work with your fashion forward vibe.
It's a good strong look and you are more than up for it (you Marfy queen, you)
Hi Liana,
I like the glasses in your first picture best...this is a great way to get feedback...I need to go get new glasses soon and I always have a difficult time deciding... especially after the drops have been put in...good luck in your quest for the perfect glasses...Mary
I vote for the second, squared lenses. Their shape is complemented by your facial structure's lean symmetry and strong jawline, and they're a little more uncommon since not everyone can look good in a rectangular style of glasses. My two cents!
Liana, I think the 2nd one looks the most stylish and flattering on you, so I vote for that one! -Jeanette (jemgirlca)
I also vote for the second, squared lenses.
I never even thought of photographing myself at the optometrist! I'm so blind, that trying on frames involves standing with my nose next to the mirror (which really doesn't give you a decent view ;) The camera is so going with me next time!
Another vote for #2, the squarish style. I think I have a sense of them being more modern and updated. I agree that they flatter your face.
Miriam
I like 1 better as you can see more of your eyes. No 2 seem to cut the tops of your eyes off.
The first pair for sure. They look great.
I have a real Jones for glasses. They are essential jewelry for me - I jsut bought 3 new ones! That said, I generally like wacky glasses so I would generally vote for the second pair. But I really believe that the first ones are the most flattering to your face.
Liana, I agree with vicki w, I immediately picked the second pair because I think such a stylish lady should have stylish glasses. But,she pointed out that the second pair does cut off the top of your eyes.
Leslie
I like the first pair better--the upper part of the frame compliments the lines of your eyes and eyebrows. One the second pair, I like the rimless bottom part of the lenses, but the top part of the frame seems to be competing with your eyebrow and eyeshape. Good luck with your selection! Rose
I like number 1 the best. It works best with the angles of your face and they frame your eyes better.
Liana, I like No. 1 best too. The second pair is really stylish...but as mentioned several times before, I see your eyes more with the first pair. I think we want to 'lift' everything, and the second pair makes my eye travel down instead.

Oh that is such a tough choice. My first reaction is for the second pair, and on the whole they are my favorite. I do agree that the first pair echo the shape of your eyebrows better, and showcase your eyes and are flattering. #1 is soft and approachable. #2 is more interesting and stylish and I think certainly flattering too, but perhaps a little more fashion forward and modern. At first I didn't like this current fashion for the glasses at the top of the eyes, remembering that I was taught they should go to or echo the brow line, but increasingly I think this look is very flattering and has more interest and character. It really is too bad glasses are so expensive, making it difficult to have pairs for every mood.
Well, I've got to say #1. #2 may be more fashion forward, but they sit too far below your eyebrow which I think will tend to give you that "surprised" look all the time you're wearing them. Number 1 follows the contour of your eyebrow and is more flattering to your face.
My two cents. ;)
I like them both but I think the second pair are more attractive.
Hmmm, I like #2. In fact, I have a very similar pair. However, I agree that they seem a little narrow for your eyes.
But I think #1 looks better on you. I have a pair similar to them also!
I like #2 better. They look more modern and light. #1 seems too heavy and dark.
Love #2......as long as it feels good on....I believe in stylish glasses....we wear stylish clothes!
#1's my choise. What a SMART idea to post and ask!! See!!?? But, now you have x voting for #1 and x for #2!!
Warm greetings,
Rhonda in Montreal
Throwing my two cents into the mix. I think because of the width of the lenses, #2 makes your eyes look very close together. #1 is much more flattering to your face and bone structure. If you wanted to go more fashion forward, could you get #1 in a bolder color? If these are primarily used only for reading, sewing or knitting; i.e., at home-type activities, go with what you love.

No. 2 hands down. -Canadian Gail
Liana, you already got VK! I wonder where is mine. I love the second pair of glasses on you. Very chic! You should choose whichever makes you feel comfortable wearing. May
I like pair #2 better, but pair #1 looks better on your face! I definitely agree with Marji about the eyebrows
I like the second ones they complement you face structure and are very fashion forward. They capture your personality as we know it here better. Good idea with the pictures!
I like number 2. Number one is an attractive, softer look, but number two is much fresher and cooler. Glasses need to be fresh and cool and not fading into the background in my opinion.
I like #2, but I like what #1 does for your face. #1 makes your face softer and prettier IMHO. I think #2 accentuates the angular lines of your face and makes your face look too sharp. In the full head-on shot I think #2 makes your face look very long and thin. So I vote #1.

Without a doubt, I like the last 2 pictures. Those are the same frame, but different angles, right? They are fashionable, yet subtle; they're younger, yet respectable; and also flattering to your eyes and cheeks. The glasses in the top two pics are so blaaah and boring, but in the lower pics you look like CEO of a fashion magazine.
#1 no contest. I was once told that glasses should follow the lines of your eyebrows and I think your photos just prove it is true. :-) There is no point having glasses that are "stylish" or "chic" if they do nothing to flatter *you*. I'd say you look stern, like a school mistress, in #2, but happy and approachable in #1.
The second pair! Much more stylish and look great with your brows!
sue v
The second pair! I like the way the bottom looks to be frameless (?), it opens up your whole face (IMHO).
I like #3!!!!
Definitely the 2nd pair, makes you look more avangarde, more your style....more ummmppp!
I say definitely the 2nd pair, too, Liana. They just make you "pop." Very flattering on you.
I guessed you picked them by now but pair number two(2) gets a va-va-va-VOOM!! (smile)
