I still haven't quite decided what to do with my legwarmers, although I agree that flat shoes would be better, etc. They were really fun to knit however, and I thought how cute they would be on a little girl. Then I realized I have a darling little neighbor who just turned 5. How perfect! I gave them to her today, and she and her brother posed for me.
She's planning to wear them to pre-school with a skirt and tights. It's in the '40's now, so it's about the right weather for these with a skirt.
These are just about exactly half-size from the pattern. I CO40 for the ribbing, increased to 42 for the pattern, and did the Back Chart as written, and the Front Chart with 4st. cables instead of 6, and just once through the chart. K2 between the charts. Twice through the Back Chart plus 3 rows.

They are cute...My MIL knitted a pair for DD in the fall and we've loved them!
As far as your legwarmers, you should wear them. If you are apprehensive about how people would react, maybe remove the pom-poms, but they do look very good on you and you have the style and attitude to pull it off.
OMG they are so cute! They almost make me want to take up knitting.
Aw, so cute!
Seeing all this knitting made me break out my how to knit cd last night. I want to learn. Those legwarmers are so cute.
The leg warmers are really nice and go for it... I see a lot of women wearing leg warmers.
Cute legwarmers.
However, I am really posting to thank you for the tip on walking ease on my coat. After much angst, I hadn't marked the original cf on my coat, I marked and cut off the extra room. The facings on this coat are full cf, so that was 4 pieces to mark and cut. I then decided to try Ann Rowley's tip and I taped the cf and pulled in the bottom a bit. Wow, that really works! It is far from finished, but it looks so much better. The princess seams hang straight, and before they just sort of belled out to the sides. Not a flattering look at all! I am going to try and finish up this weekend. Well, if I'd slept last night that would probably have been doable.
Thanks, everyone! I got rid of the pompons and wore them the other evening around the house when I was really cold. Wonderful. Now of course it's 65 degrees, not that I'm complaining.
Nancy, I'm so glad your coat is working out well. Can't wait to see it!
TOO CUTE!
