Red Shrug

I was looking through a box of sweaters the other day, and came across a little shrug that I knitted in 2000 for my Grandmother. When she was gone, my aunt gave me back the things I'd made for her over the years. When I found this, I almost couldn't figure out what it was at first, and then I remembered it. Red was her very favorite color, and I made this from a yarn called Safari in a blend of red and black. It was perfect for her as she was always a little chilly, and it was easy to put on and have a little extra warmth over her shoulders. The pattern is by Fiber Trends, and is called Evening Shrug. There was a lot of short-row shaping, and it was knitted all in one piece so that when you were done, there were 3 stitches at each underarm to graft together. I decided I might as well wear it around the house anyway, as it really is nice and warm. It's not really my colors, but it's kind of fun. The shawl collar is a feature I like, compared to other shrug patterns I've seen. Here's a photo with the caramel wool pants and Koala shell.

With the popularity of the "shrunken look" this looks very current! I love the color as I see it on my monitor. Enjoy wearing it - and thanks for sharing it!

I was a little apprehensive if shrugs would be comfortable to wear. Yours looks perfectly at home and cuddly just like your cat. haha.

Handmade items that bring comfort to people you love are so important. Not just for their use but the memories that spin into them. Thank you for sharing it.

Liana, I meant to ask in the previous post, but where do you get your ribbon labels made? Like the one in the Jackie-O jacket? That is a nice unobtrusive label.

I'm looking for an inexpensive label and was not happy with the printed ones I received from Newark Dress Supply. Thanks again.

Liana,

As always your knitted garments are so kewl. Will you make another one in "your colors"?

Thank you Miriam & Linda!

Gidget, It's really comfortable, and I recommend one. The labels are printed ribbons from Namemaker.com. I like them, but I think the white printing on the pale green was a mistake. It doesn't seem to be as permanent as it could be, although I love the color. I've been planning to get some woven ones, but can't decide what I want.

Carolyn, Thank you! I don't know if I'll make another, just because of the time thing, but I'd like to.
