Sew Intriguing: Re-Publishing the Stitcher's Guild Backstory and History
Sew Intriguing: Re-Publishing the Stitcher's Guild Backstory and History
I originally published this in July, 2013. I then took this post down as a courtesy to Julie Ford (DragonLady on SG), but I see no reason not to re-publish it at this point. I have not been reading SG or having anything to do with it since this time, and since Julie has never seen fit to acknowledge either my (or Kathryn's) genesis of the whole thing, or my acquiescence to her request to remove this post, it's going back up. Obviously it doesn't matter to her, so why should it matter to me?

I clearly remember this. Thanks for reminder. I'm not sure that some contributors realize they are building a valuable asset for the domain owner. Will be interesting to see others replies. JTL
I've been participating less and less over the years. I was aware of this article when it was first published, it brings up valid points about intellectual property and creative contribution (I never like the pressure by some members for everyone to 'pay their dues', when some members don't have much money but provide vast amounts of actual content - the stuff which brings eyeballs to the site).
Recent events have provided a convenient excuse of 'politics' for the various tensions and squabbles on the forum, when in reality they have (sadly) been going on for years in strictly sewing related topics.
Luckily it's a big wide world out there on the web :) Happy Sewing All!!! mrs. e
Thank you for posting this again. I recently had to re-register. I did and now they don't recognize my log in. I tried to redo my password and to no avail. I guess I am a black sheep. Oh well.
I left SG several years ago. Probably around the same time as you were posting less frequently. Ann had already won the Sewing Bee and had virtually disappeared from the site. I left because of what I felt was heavy-handed and hypocritical moderation from Kathryn and Lisa. I know they are both dear to you, but that is the honest reason that I left. I understand the need for money to run a website, but I also remember someone saying there were free sites for message boards. The lack of transparency regarding the funds being donated was the reason I refused to donate. I don't participate in any sewing message boards currently. They are definitely time sucks and I think I am a little more peaceful these days. I still read sewing blogs and have enjoyed yours for many years. I was deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. You made him some great shirts! Thanks for being honest in your post. Honesty is a rare thing these days. Best to you. -LindaC in AZ
Liana, this is totally off topic. I am looking for a pattern I used ages ago. I cannot find it or the name. I used to follow your blog religiously and I have a vague notion you might know the pattern. Could I send you a picture of the garment? Sylvia
Yes, of course I'll try to help. Can you post a link to it here in the comments?
Liana, thank you so much. Over night my brain kicked-in. It was the Presto Pop over, found it on Savage Coco. Gosh, I nearly went nuts looking for it. I'll send a picture if it doesn't ring a bell with you.
