Some Activity

There has been some sewing and needlework activity occurring, which is good. It's nothing wonderful, but I hope that will change too.

I did make up one of the knits I got in Chicago, the blue/green animal print. I used Jalie #2682 Here's my result after a test version, and a little more alteration. I did an FBA, and lowered the seam a bit. I like it raised some, but even the girl in the pattern photo has the seam a little high for comfort, IMO.

I also knitted a Prayer Shawl for my church to give to someone. We've noticed that some people are wearing them as scarves, so I thought I'd just make one that was very scarf-like. It was from some pale pink donated mohair, and a blue novelty yarn. I made two of the little bows, and attached them on opposite sides of the same spot so there's no front or back.

I also finished a couple pairs of socks, and am working on another one that's a really different pattern from Knitty. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out, and I don't know if my yarn is too great, but at least it will be a good test. I'm going to visit a dear friend in Maryland tomorrow for a while, and I need to get some projects together to take along, although she's promised me that the yarn shopping is very good, so I'm taking a couple of patterns in anticipation.

I like the top, and there can't be anything better to inspire than knitting a prayer shawl for someone else. Good way to get going. Have a safe trip, you picked a good time. Few weeks ago was a bad time to visit Maryland! K

Oh well, we're watching another storm for the weekend, so who knows?? Liana, the yarn shopping is great, Woolstock, Woolworks, All About Yarn, and there's one in Bethesda whose name escapes me now. BUT don't forget Michaels and G Street are local, too. Have fun, continue to heal. It's good seeing the progress you're making. Melodye

Hello Liana, I recently did a pattern drafting course and we talked about the bust seam and darting. She said it is better to have the seam higher as it gives a more uplifting and youthful look to the bust line.

If you imagine the princess seam on your top lower I think you will perhaps consider leaving it be.

Love the top, Liana. That color is wonderful on you.

If you will be anywhere near Baltimore you really must go to Michael's store, A Fabric Place. It's amazing and he and Sherri are truly wonderful people. I don't know anything about the yarn shops though!

Very nice top, Liana. The color is great on you. Have fun wearing it on your visit. It's good to see that you're doing a little knitting as well. What a nice thought, to make a prayer shawl for a church donation.

I like your top. Lovely color.

..a really different patter from Knitty...

are you by any chance, working on the Skew socks ? I just saw them last week and they jumped right onto my radar. They might (will probably) be next on my needles once I'm done the current pair.

If it's not the Skew pattern, go onto Knitty and check them out - very cool !

oh Liana, It is so wonderful to have you sharing your sewing/knitting life with us again. Did you know that there were so many of us who hugged you in empathy from afar? Welcome back
