Specifically, if the width reduction desired is 12 percent, and the length reduction is 0 percent, due to the stretch of the fabric, how do I account for the width reduction in the armholes? Do I make the armholes smaller? Since the outside shoulder point would move in a little, and the point at the armpit would move in considerably more, how do I account for the resulting difference in armholes size, without affecting the fit?Melissanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10081744.post-56571466345598032392010-03-19T18:35:16.097-05:002010-03-19T18:35:16.097-05:00sewiknittoo,

Since the shoulder doesn't need the ease required for comfort in the other areas, and I prefer a natural shoulder, rather than an extended one, I thought 1/4" was plenty. I suggest you try this, make a muslin and try it on to decide if it's enough for you.

HTH!Lianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13235950571276425579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10081744.post-19292149499814179152010-03-19T18:08:24.639-05:002010-03-19T18:08:24.639-05:00For the pattern grading portion...how does one kno...For the pattern grading portion...how does one know how much to grade/add at the shoulder? I love your blog it contains great information by the way!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10081744.post-62003738436019375422008-04-29T12:13:00.000-05:002008-04-29T12:13:00.000-05:00You inspired me to do this, but not for my upper b...You inspired me to do this, but not for my upper body yet, though that is next. I made one for my upper hip and waist to fit a yoke waist band. I have a very round curve from hip to waist and an uneven waist that I have not been able to fine tune the fit. So I tried this yesterday and I think that is will work better than anything else I've tried. I made a pattern out of it and just have to cut the pants out.
I think I'll get a big roll of clear wrap at Costco this after noon and try the upper body next.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10081744.post-65493188957004449842008-04-01T07:18:00.000-05:002008-04-01T07:18:00.000-05:00Hi Liana, as you know from the good old days of th...Hi Liana, as you know from the good old days of the now defunct "SewZine"...

I often to use saran blocks for fitting and designing. Comes in especially useful for my hardest-to-fit menswear clients...NO, not for pants, LOL, for shirts!

Seriously, I highly recommend this method...thanks for taking the time to post about it!

Pam from ~Off The Cuff Style~Pam Ernyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18364147606316729502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10081744.post-46484489834006035382008-03-31T02:30:00.000-05:002008-03-31T02:30:00.000-05:00Thanks Liana! And I only used the right side to make the sloper.

I used the sloper to adjust Marfy 1101 - the blouse that you have made up a few times. The front turned out really well but the back needs more work. It was a bit tricky working out what to do with the shoulder darts. I will go and rework the back. Also block has quite a curve in the back and the Marfy does not have a centre back seam and no darts. I need the darts!Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01529416439720810403noreply@blogger.com
